Staff from Cortland Prevention Resources and The LGBT Center joined in the festivities for A Taste of Downtown, offering mocktails as an alternative to traditional alcoholic beverages. This was the 10th anniversary for the walking sample tour in historic downtown Cortland with live music and local artists joining in other vendors at the sidewalk festival. “We wanted to offer an alternative to the wine and beer tasting,” said Prevention Specialist Deidre Plumley. “Feedback from people in the recovery community was very positive and they appreciated that an alternative was available.” Visitors to the booth had an opportunity to sample a Lime Cooler or Shirley Temple – which you can easily make at home using the recipes below. With the availability of alcohol free beverages, the booth was also a big hit with families and youth who were attending the event.
